Summer Program

Kindle Farm offers a 6-week extended school year each summer. Students are typically split into older and younger groups. Both groups are located on our farm campus. The younger students participate each morning in an integrated, hands-on curriculum in which students create a living village. Within the village the students take jobs, create community rules and laws, and learn to navigate unforeseen events as a community building teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. Older students utilize a morning rotation in which they experience opportunities in vocational trades, agricultural work experience, and a health-based curriculum designed around foods and wellness. Afternoons allow for students the choice of continuing to work in vocational and agricultural offerings, as well as other experiential activities such as swimming or group games and sports. As a part of the Kindle Farm continuing support services and skill building, reading and clinical therapeutic specialists are also available as needed.
