Monica Sullivan: Special Educator at Kindle Farm

Monica Sullivan—one of Kindle Farm’s special educators—loaded her family, dogs, and half a dozen chickens into the back of her ancient Ford pickup in the Summer of 2022 and headed east from California, ultimately landing in southern Vermont. She became the special educator and literacy instructor at Kindle Farm’s central campus beginning in the 2022-23 school year, and recently obtained her Vermont state teaching license. In the Summer of 2023, she participated in the Orton-Gillingham training program, completing an associates level certification.

Currently, Monica liaisons with several school districts. She enjoys time with students whether it’s in the classroom or during afternoon activities, where she supervises the academic layers of our multi-age program and supports 1:1 literacy intervention.

Having worked in both public and private schools alike, Monica has been supporting neurodivergent individuals in the classroom for almost 20 years. She now lends her expertise to the unique needs of our local population. In her free time, she likes to hang out with her family and two dogs and looks forward to one day learning to play the ukulele.
